"Hello friends, I am Kashinath and I come from Maharastra. I belong to a family of weavers. Our families have carried on in this tradition for many years now.
"I joined much later, after I completed my studies. While doing my bachelor of arts degree, I worked simultaneously with a handloom cooperative society, earning and studying at the same time. Since my family was already in the field of weaving, I also followed suit. However, I brought about some changes in the style of weaving. Instead of creating saris, I shifted to the handloom, designing different types of home furnishing articles. All my design are made of hand-woven fabric.
"I organized a few artisans to work with me and together we started making wall hangings, bags, cushion covers, table linens and such.
"A lot of attention goes into the color combination and designing. Today, about 50 other artisans collaborate with me in different stages of designing, weaving and finishing. We normally select motifs like different deities, animals and other religious symbols.
"I also teach people who want to learn this art. They work with me and when they are fully trained, they either continue with me or work on their own. I have seen some of these people doing well in their lives. This gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I hope Novica can help me promote my products so that I can help train more and more people; this, in turn, will assist them financially."
